Meet our team
We are 3 female founders who strongly believe in the power of communication and want to promote cultural exchange. Each of us has their own cultural background and has experienced how it is when people from different cultures don’t understand each other. That is something we want to change, we want to connect people, help them talk to each other without boundaries and eliminate stereotypes and prejudices. Currently, we are founded by the EXIST scholarship, and we are part of the LMU Accelerator program. Nice to meet you 🙂

Our Story
Anna, a business engineer with Armenian roots , and half Greek half German Nikola, a media artist, met in China during their double degree studies. Both of them experienced the cultural differences between German and Chinese people, how people stay in their own cultural group and often do not understand each other. After they came back, for her Master Thesis, Nikola started creating a solution to help people who do a German-Chinese exchange year get connected. Soon Anna and Nikola started working together and the dǒngguó 懂国 App as it is now was born. Later their 3rd member Barbara joined the team with her programming skills. In Mai 2019 they received the EXIST Business Start-Up grant (EXIST Gründerstipendium), which is issued by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy.
